Sustainability Award for Buceo Norte

Since 2017, the Comarca Norte has recognised companies that have developed an activity in favour of tourism in the eleven municipalities that make up this supra-municipal entity. These awards are given in collaboration with the Tourism Commission of the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria on the occasion of the celebration of World Tourism Day 2020, next Sunday, September 27.

This year the World Tourism Organization celebrates this day under the motto “TOURISM AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT”. This year's international celebration comes at a critical time, as countries around the world look to tourism to drive recovery, as do rural communities where the sector is a major employer and economic pillar.

The eleven companies or entities recognized with these awards, together with the rest of the tourism companies, work throughout the year to improve the experience of our visitors, both foreign and local, with the aim of showing the best of the North of Gran Canaria. Being a unique showcase of the wide range of rural tourism in our region that tries to adapt to the new normal after the Covid-2019 pandemic.

In it sustainability section, In the municipality of Gáldar the award winner was the company North Diving, a leading diving centre in our region that bases all its services on a unique vision, “Conscious Diving” which aims to develop sustainable, highly qualified divers with knowledge of the ecosystems and species that are observed in a privileged environment such as that of the waters of Sardina del Norte.
