One of the first questions we usually encounter when we are asked for information about this experience when we are about to try out a scuba dive is what it is actually called.

With the shyness and caution of someone who doesn't really know what they're getting into, the conversation usually follows the same pattern:

-Hello! I wanted to ask you for information about the “scuba diving baptism”, or “baptism”, or “initiation”, let’s see, the “first course”, I don’t know what the correct way to call it is. But anyway, I want to dive, although I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it or how I’ll do it, I just don’t have any experience.

At this point, with the excitement of someone who knows they are going to discover a new world for someone else, and who also agrees that it is their passion, our most common response is:

  • Hello! Welcome to Buceo Norte! All the ways you have mentioned are correct, and don't worry if you don't have experience, because that's what we're here for. And of course you'll be able to do it. We know this because you yourself have given us the key, you have said the magic phrase, "I want to dive" (you can't imagine how happy it always makes us to hear this).

This is when we can notice, even though you are on the other end of the phone, that the initial insecurity we sensed is starting to turn into excitement and caution into a little bit of “fear” because of what you have finally decided to do after thinking about it for so long.

We know you better than you can imagine, and deep down, in the real world, beneath the surface, we are all the same.

Surely more than one of you has come to this post because you have already thought about what it would be like to see the underwater world, the largest on this planet, but you still have many doubts that prevent you from launching into this experience that will change your life forever. Well, that is also our job, we are going to make it very easy for you. We are going to resolve point by point all the doubts that we have raised before and that usually arise in conversations about diving baptisms, and if there are still any questions, we will be happy to answer them personally.

Baptism, christening, initiation, first experience…all the ways of calling it are correct.

It makes a lot of sense to call this experience a ritual. The baptism of diving is the first time that you will be part of a new and wonderful world, the underwater one.

After this experience, we are sure that everything you have seen and felt will change your way of being forever, and without even realizing it, you will have entered a very special community, that of the lucky ones who experience how, being terrestrial animals, they have the opportunity to live for a few moments like marine mammals, and coexist with all the life, ecosystems and beauty of the ocean landscapes.

Don't worry if you don't have experience, that's what we're here for.

To give you an idea of how things will go, we are the ones who will dive for you, and we can assure you that we know a lot about it. You and the instructor who accompanies you will be like one person throughout the entire baptism. He will be the part of you that knows how to dive, how the equipment works, what to do at each moment and what is the most interesting route to find everything you want to see. In short, your instructor will be in charge of controlling everything to ensure that the experience is incredible. You only have to take care of two things: breathing and enjoying. Easy, right?

Can I do it?

If you have ever said to yourself “I want to dive”, the answer is a resounding YES. The first attempt at diving, even if it is just an initiation, is the most important experience for a diver, since it depends on whether you want to continue enjoying one of the wonders of this planet forever or whether you decide to be one of those who best watch it from the sofa in documentaries. It is a very intense moment and everything is new, so it is essential that you are accompanied by a professional who connects with you, and transforms your insecurities and emotions into a great experience. And that is what we like most about this activity, being able to see the expression of euphoria and overcoming on your face as soon as you get out of the water, it is priceless. For us it is a privilege to be the person who can make you love being in the blue as much as we do, and we have developed a protocol that all our professionals follow, to ensure that everyone who wants to dive, regardless of their previous experience or the time it takes, can dive and enjoy it from the first time.

What's so special about a #consciousdiving baptism?

As we have been saying, it is very important for us to share our passion for the ocean with you, so it is not enough for us to just enjoy a diving experience, but to help you understand the true value of what you are experiencing, who are the beings you are going to meet, how to interpret their behavior and why it is so important that we protect them.

From the moment you walk through the door at Buceo Norte, we consider you to be true # conscious divers, and before going into the water we will prepare ourselves accordingly. At the centre we will do a briefing or explanation where, in addition to the classic technical information specific to the activity itself, we will resolve all your doubts and you will receive all the knowledge we talked about earlier, which will make your baptism unique.

We would love to tell you much more, so if you want more information, contact us!

See you at sea?
