These are the best apps to check the sea conditions and find out if your dive site is perfect for diving.
There are 5 main factors that will influence the state of the sea:
- Surf
- Period
- Coefficient
- Wind
- Visibility.

1 — Windy
Possibly the easiest app to use and gives you an overview of what conditions will be like over the next 9 days.
It also gives you a more detailed view at a predefined point, but in this case the forecast will be reduced to 5 days.
Another interesting option is that if you register, you can save your favorite sites.
The easiest option to use is the one that predicts weather conditions through a simulation by simply pressing the “play”.
In the simulation you can see the changes at a global level and play with the zoom.
To choose the simulation you want to see, click on the menu at the bottom right of the screen and choose the option that interests you most.
You can also click on an area of the map to view it in detail and see the information for the exact point selected. If you expand it, you will access the detailed information.
Surf
The lines will follow a path that will show you the direction.
The range of colors will tell you the height of the waves. Here's how to interpret it:
Blueish white indicates that there is no swell, the blue will become darker as the wave increases in size.
From blue we move to a light purple that will gradually change until it turns dark red, indicating that the waves are bigger.
From dark red we move to a pink that will change to orange-pink as the height continues to rise.
Finally we can see a slightly golden white that indicates the strongest waves.
Period
Without leaving the wave forecast, we will simply have to select the chosen place, and at the bottom the period in seconds will appear. (Remember that in this post we explain how to interpret it)
Wind
It is very similar to wave simulation but in this case the colors are different.
The lines will follow a path that will show you the direction.
In the following list you will see the colors that will indicate the wind speed in km/h from lowest to highest:
Dark blue, light blue, green, orange, red, pink and we finish with purple.
2 — Winguru
Possibly the most consulted app by users who want to know what the state of the sea will be.
It allows you to check a forecast up to 7 days in advance.
The first thing we must do is locate the desired place. It is likely that we will not find the exact location. In this case we only have to look for the closest one.
To locate the place, we just have to enter its name in the search engine that we will find in the upper left part of the screen (search spot)
Once we have chosen a location, we will have several options to view the forecast.
Let's focus on the first one that will appear with the name WG. In this option we will be able to see all the information we need to evaluate the waves, the period and the wind.
On the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines we will see the first letter of the day of the week, the day of the month and the time.
In the 4th and 5th line will show us the wind speed in knots and the gusts.
In the 6th line we will be able to see an arrow that will indicate the direction of the wind.
In the 7th line we can see the height of the wave in meters
In the 8th line we will see the period
In the 9th line an arrow will appear indicating the direction of the wave.

3 — State ports

Using what you have read above, it will be easy for you to obtain this information.
The only downside is that the mobile version is not optimized and it is a bit more tedious to obtain this information from the web.
But it is certainly a great option if you have enough time and a computer to obtain information with unparalleled precision.

4 — Your tide

The first thing we must choose is the port closest to the chosen location and select it in the search engine.
Once chosen, we will see two boxes with information on our screen.
In the first box, it will give us information about the current state of the tide.
In the second, we will see the information necessary to know what the state of the coefficient and the tide will be in the next 30 days.
We will have 5 vertical lines in which the following information will appear:
1st line, day of the week, day of the month and month.
2nd line, we will see a time of day
3rd line, We will see the letters P high tide in green and B low tide in red
4th line, we will see the height of the tide in meters.
