Differences between a normal dive and an interpreted dive

To explain this, we will use a comparison that, although it may seem strange at first, will certainly clarify the meaning of this new way of diving. We are sure that you will not want to dive any other way.

Well, let's start by talking about museums. These are institutions dedicated to the acquisition, conservation, study and exhibition of objects and/or knowledge of value, interest or cultural importance.

Imagine that you buy tickets to a museum where there is a temporary exhibition that you are interested in seeing on an unknown topic or one about which you want to acquire new knowledge, and that its content is only available today, since it is updated daily. At the entrance, they offer you for the same price, the option of being accompanied by a professional guide, but since you already know something about the topic, you decide that just seeing him will be enough. Once you are inside, the only information you find is the title of the exhibition (which you already knew), some directions on the route you must follow to see it and a brief safety explanation such as where the fire extinguishers are and who you should contact if you get lost.

You move forward thinking that later you will find the content with information about the wonders that are on display and you reach the end of the visit, having seen incredible things, without any mishaps, but with a feeling of incomplete satisfaction.

On your way out, you recognise a friend who is just saying goodbye to the guide who accompanied him. You go up to him to tell him how wonderful the experience was, and after exchanging opinions for a while, you get the feeling that you have been to totally different exhibitions and that you have not understood anything of what you have seen. How annoying, right?

Well, this simile represents exactly the difference between a guided diving and an interpreted dive.

We learn by diving

For us, the ocean is the largest and most amazing museum in the world. We want to be the guides who interpret for you every day what you are seeing, so that your diving experience is completely fascinating, enriching and complete.

The Earth is made up of 3/4 water. 97.5% of this is found in oceans and seas of salt water, and it is estimated that experts only know 5%, so we can say that we do not know the vast majority of our own planet. And in that 5% lies the objective of interpreted dives, to discover something new every day about the giant and mysterious Blue!

A real briefing

In the briefing of our interpreted dives, you will find technical information and classic procedures, but what makes them truly unique is:

Every day, even if you repeat the same dive, they are different dives, as we adapt our explanation to what we know you will find once you dive. Communities of living beings, their behaviour and the dynamics of ecosystems vary depending on various factors such as temperature, currents and time of year. If the sea is different every day, what would be the point of always telling you the same thing?

Our guides are also biology and environmental professionals, and you will be surprised to see the passion with which they share their knowledge. Part of our job is to study the different species and their habits. In this way, in addition to continuing to learn, we can share with you what is really happening underwater during the dive. You will see that the “trailer” that we told you in the briefing becomes a real “documentary” as soon as you start the route. You will feel that your dives begin to have more meaning.

We dive consciously

And finally, what gives meaning to all of the above, #consciousdiving. This movement founded by Buceo Norte, aims to generate a community of divers who use their hobby as a tool for the protection and conservation of the marine environment. In this way, you will not only improve your diving techniques, but by acquiring new knowledge in each interpreted dive, you will understand the ocean as it is, and the consequences of our presence in it.

After knowing this, will you repeat your visit to the museum without an interpreter?

All our sessions have a place waiting for you.
